The church

The Church of the Dominicans in the Avenue de la Renaissance was built in a neogothic style in 1905. With its splendid stained glass, it is a place of recollection, silence and refreshment of spirit. Here the Dominican community celebrates the Eucharist and the Prayer of the Hours daily, and the church is open daily from 8 am to 7.30 pm for those seeking a place of recollection and prayer.

On Sunday and Wednesday evenings the community and congregation celebrate the liturgy in several languages, especially French and English. On the first Sunday of the month Mass is followed by a social gathering over a drink for us to get to know one another... We welcome to the Prayer of the Hours all who would like to join in common prayer using the psalms, hymns and readings of the Divine Office. The brethren’s choir is entered by a door to the right of the sanctuary.

Our church is a meeting-place for Art and Faith, where there is an interplay of worship and cultural events. Every Sunday before Mass, from six o’clock until half past, a meditation on the organ introduces the Eucharist.

A thorough restoration of the Church will begin in september 2003. We expect the first phase to be complete towards the end of November 2003.

A pastoral and liturgical team of Dominicans and lay people is responsible for the Sunday Masses, and a choir is presently formed and welcomes still more voices.
